1. REVIEW OF MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS - evaluate production operations, material flow, selection of machinery, application of work measurement standards, facility layout, and work station design.  Make recommendations for improvements and cost reduction as appropriate.

2. STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT - establish work measurement standards for production and distribution operations, measure performance, determine production rates and manning requirements, set distribution workloads, and project opportunities for cost savings through improved labor performance.

REVIEW OF MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS

As an Industrial Engineer and Management Consultant, Mark Roggen has performed and supervised a wide range of studies involving review and evaluation of production operations and materials flow, selection of machinery, application of work measurement standards, and work station design.

Clients in these studies have ranged from machine shop operators and garment manufacturers through offset printers, newspaper publishers, commercial trucking companies, and chemical processing plants.

Mr. Roggen’s combined industry and consulting experience has totaled hundreds of hours of applied time studies and methods engineering work, across a broad range of industries.

STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT

        1. Conducted nationwide survey to establish work measurement standards for industrial laundry pickup and delivery through time study observation.  Detailed standards developed were utilized by the industry’s trade association as guidelines for evaluating delivery route performance, and the resulting report was presented to association members at its annual connvention.
        2. Performed a study to develop manning requirements for hauler operations servicing high speed offset presses.  Resulting report was utilized as expert witness testimony in management-labor negotiations for a new union contract.
        3. Evaluated potential savings available through utilization of delivery cost and labor standards for national distribution of liquefied gas products.  Resulting annual cost reduction was in excess of $1 million.

COST/BENEFIT ANALYSES

        1. Performed numerous consulting assignments structured to evaluate potential cost reduction available through increased sophistication of operating procedures, and the purchase of new equipment and services by the client.
        2. Feasibility of additional operating expense versus return on investment was evaluated in all aspects of client operations including:
